Alpha, Beta, Gamma: A Custom Invite Design

Engaged in the Isle of Capri last year, Steffanie & Michael decided to hold a celebration with their nearest and dearest in the heart of Sydney last month. Choosing Beta as the venue, which pairs modern mexe by renowned chef Peter Conistis, it was a Greek-inspired chic inner-city bar experience.

Beta Bar is situated above Alpha Restaurant and mixes modern design with Victorian-era architecture and so when designing the invitations I wanted to bring the old and the new aspects into the design.

A hand-made rag paper stock was chosen, for it's old-wordly and authentic feel, and gold foiled to add that bit of glamour. The hand-made invite was then placed inside a custom made envelope, stamped with their logo 'Michael & Steffanie' on the reverse, and an abstract pattern representing a greek evil eye 'mati' on the front. The pastel colour palette mimicked that of the venue, and the florals and furniture chosen by the bride-to-be all tied together perfectly.

The Greeks belief in the evil eye is almost as old as human history and today still continues widely. According to the belief, the mati protects you in many different forms  - coveting and transferring the negative energy so that it never reaches you. As both Michael & Steffanie are both of Greek decent, it was the perfect and unique addition to start their new journey in health, happiness, and with plenty of positive energy and good luck.

Their logo was made up in neon, which they will now keep in their home as a special sentiment of their celebrations!
