An intimate destination celebration set on the breathtaking Pandawa Cliff, in Bali Indonesia, a location the couple had never visited despite many trips to the Island. High above the Indian Ocean and white sands, the couple shared the magic of their intimate celebration with their closest family and friends.
DESTINATION: Bali, Indonesia
Not always the plan but we were going to Bali so much and fell in love. So we decided to make it happen!
A friend of ours lives in Bali and took us on a day trip to hunt for the perfect location. It was very hard to choose because they were all so amazing but as soon as we walked into Pandawa Cliff Estate, we knew that's where we wanted to get married.
We had a total of 55 people
We used all local suppliers, with the exception of the photographer who we flew over for the wedding.
We have travelled to Bali many times but it was our first time around that area, Pandawa Beach.
Yes we actually had to have a wedding planner to have a wedding there. Most of the locations we looked at were that way in Bali.
It was so much easier than expected, in saying that I knew exactly what I wanted. I created a inspiration story board with the theme I wanted to aim for. We had a few Skype calls and the rest was via email, which was convenient. Our wedding planner was Australian but lived in Bali, so she was very easy to communicate with.
Two things went wrong but didn't ruin my day! One being I accidentally purchased the wrong length bridesmaid Zimmermann dress and didn't realise until I got to Bali, I had to take it to alterations which was a little bit of mission but my wedding planner picked it up and had it nice and ready for my bridesmaid on the day of the wedding. So ensure you triple check everything! The second issue was the cocktails that were served, they were only putting in half shots or less. My husband found out and sorted that out straight away!
2. Getting out the invitations well in advance so people can prepare their flights and accommodation early and maybe get better deals.
If you decide to do destination, take your time. Allow yourself to truly enjoy the process, not stress over it. Also, a destination wedding is likely going to be naturally beautiful, so don't feel the need to go overboard on decor. Simple flowers and candles will go a long way.
There was a little rain in the night period of my wedding, it was a bit disappointing but I tried not to let it ruin my night!
Of course those first few steps walking down to see my new husband. Also seeing all of my family and best friends at my wedding in another country!
I wouldn't change a thing. But if I had to not pick I would say avoid getting too much sun before the wedding day, my face was a little dried out from the sun.
We stayed in Bali for another 2 weeks and moved around the island to different beautiful locations. Then we flew to Singapore to finish off our amazing wedding holiday.
